https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s8F92cHazvU Emil Sutovsky has won many brilliant chess games and brilliancy prizes in his career. Especially in the early 2000s, his name regularly appeared on the best games contest in Informant. His 2002 victory over Ilia Smirin is perhaps the finest in his career, and it’s my #6 game of the 2000s.
Lessons:
* An unassailable knight on f5 is to be highly valued.
* The pieces that matter in an attack are the ones in the attacking sphere. The others are just being hoarded for the endgame IF it can be reached.
* Always calculate all forcing moves.
